During this period, the house and part of the estate will be closed to visitors, but we look forward to welcoming you to the events in our programming.

A New Exhibition Coming

In 2024, Uplands received support from the ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec as well as from the Townshippers’ Foundation, making it possible to renew its permanent exhibition. This project is a partnership between Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre and the Lennoxville-Ascot Historical and Museum Society (LAHMS) and will include an educational program specially designed for local schools.

The future exhibition will feature objects never before displayed, offering a richer perspective on regional traditions and celebrating the cultural vitality of Lennoxville and the Eastern Townships. Our goal is to provide residents and visitors with a deeper experience of local heritage, encouraging the discovery and appreciation of our shared history.

The City of Sherbrooke will also undertake major restoration work on the building, including the windows and masonry. These efforts will help preserve and enhance the charm of this heritage site, which has stood proudly since 1862.

About Uplands

Forty years ago, the Lennoxville community came together with great enthusiasm to acquire and transform the private Uplands Estate into a centre dedicated to local heritage and traditions. Thanks to their dedication over the decades, this emblematic site now welcomes over 8,000 visitors each year.

A lively and welcoming place, Uplands serves a diverse audience of seniors, families, students, and tourists, within a borough where bilingual heritage runs deep.

The upcoming exhibition will reflect this diversity, highlighting the contributions of the English-speaking community and preserving its intangible heritage, an essential part of the region’s cultural mosaic.

Thank you for your patience and support. This project marks the beginning of a new chapter for Uplands Estate, reaffirming our role as a place of memory, community, and sharing for present and future generations.
